“In March there was a big show, where different Penza areas presented their choirs. As a result the best groups were selected – choirs of Penza children music schools No. 2, No. 5, No. 7 and children art school No. 12,” the head of the Governor Symphonic Choir Vladimir Kashirsky, who is also the chairman of the competition committee, told news agency “PenzaNews.”

He said that the main task is to select the best voices with beautiful timbre and wide singing range.

“Children should also have good hearing and prima vista skills,” the agency interlocutor said.

According to Vladimir Kashirsky, in the course of the competition 12 children will be selected, although earlier it was reported that only 10 representatives from the region will sing in children combined choir of Russia.

“Penza is a singing region and we should demonstrate our children’s choral art,” he stressed.

The Deputy Chairman of the competition committee noted that the combined children choir will be as large-scale as the Olympic Games.

“The rehearsals conducted by the people’s artist of Russia Valery Gergiev will be organized first on stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, and then – in Sochi,” Vladimir Kashirsky said.
