Penza, 24 October 2013. PenzaNews. The building of the Penza regional Philharmonic constructed at the intersection of Nekrasov and Suvorov Streets in honor of the 350th anniversary of the city will become a new cultural center of the region. The head of culture and archive of the Penza region Evgeny Shilov expressed this opinion in an interview with news agency “PenzaNews.”

He explained that the functionality of the building of the Philharmonic would expand the concept of its work.

“Many bands will certainly perform on the big stage. But at the same time, new opportunities will be opened up for chamber bands. For example, they will be able to perform at the organ hall with 200 seats. There you can set the piano and with remarkable acoustics hold piano concerts that are of great popularity among certain group of audience,” he said.

According to Evgeny Shilov, the capabilities of the new building will allow many bands and individual artists to show their creative potential in a new way.

“For example, this can be said about Song and Dance Ensemble “Kazachya Zastava,” for which the stage of the “old” building is already too small. At the new Philharmonic its participants will be able to demonstrate the full range of their professional skills,” the head of culture and archive of the Penza region explained.

In his opinion, the new building of the Penza regional Philharmonic should be filled with art in the broadest sense of the word.

“The work in this direction is already underway and is carried out by the acting head of the institution Lubov Sycheva. Earlier there were about 6–7 concerts in the Philharmonic every month, now there planned to be 12–14. In the future, it would be great if every day were occupied, except for one day-off, for example Monday. And not only the art of the Philharmonic should be represented here. We must take every effort to make this building a place of communication between active and energetic people, a kind of intellectual platform,” Evgeny Shilov emphasized.

He added that amateur groups from the Penza region should also be able to perform in the Philharmonic.

“We need to improve their work in the course of creative communication: hold master classes, sharpen skills, achieving a high level so that they were able to gather an audience and perform worthy,” noted the head of culture and archive of the Penza region.

Answering the question of the correspondent of news agency “PenzeNews,” whether the commissioning of a modern building of the Philharmonic will contribute to the influx of non-resident artists, Evgeny Shilov expressed confidence that in the future this will inevitably happen.

“For any artist, it is more important not where he lives but where he can realize his potential. So, of course, we can expect the migration of artists. In addition, Penza has favorable location: it is not far from Saratov, Ulyanovsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Mordovia and Tambov,” he said.

According to the head of culture and archive of the Penza region, leaders of many Philharmonic bands have already visited the new building and were amazed by what they had seen.

“A great hall, a huge stage, modern sound and lighting equipment – we probably never dreamed of such conditions. Of course, Penza Philharmonic will be different,” he concluded.
