The photo exhibition “Tourism and recreation in the Penza region” organized in the year of the 350th anniversary of Penza showed how the youth of the XXI century perceives the region and its sights. The deputy head of culture and archive Kirill Zastrozhny expressed this opinion during the solemn opening ceremony of the exhibition, held at the shopping center “Premier League” on Friday, 25 October.

“It is very important that the event is organized by the young for the young. It is a fresh look at the Penza region. The authors managed to capture the beauty of our region, reflect preserving of traditions and the opportunity for further development.

Kirill Zastrozhny emphasized that he as a representative of the older generation welcomes the active civil position of the Penza youth, who strive to study the history of their small motherland and tell others about it through their creative works – especially in the year of the 350th anniversary of Penza.

“It is remarkable that the idea to hold the exhibition appeared not in the offices of the officials. The work on the Penza region branding was started by the most active members of the society. That means that promoting our region as a region with rich cultural traditions, glorious past, worthy present, and great future will be highly effective and will bring results in a short while,” the deputy head of culture and archive pointed out.

He drew attention to the fact that photographers managed to show the sights of Penza and the region in a new way, focusing on the details that are hard to see.

“Frankly, some works impressed me deeply. For example, beautiful photos of the night Moskovskaya Street or the monument to military and labor valor of Penza residents as well as landscapes of marvelous sunsets and endless fields. But most surprising was the vision of Lermontov’s Tarkhany, which I have visited hundreds of times. I have never seen the manor house to be floating out of the mist, and the atmosphere of the estate is conveyed so accurately,” Kirill Zastrozhny said.

He also expressed the hope that there will be more exhibitions of the kind to show not the ordinariness but interesting perspectives of the Penza region sights and people, living and working for the good of the region.

The photo exhibition “Tourism and recreation in the Penza region” is part of the competition “Leaders of Penza tourism industry – 2013.”

Following the results of the pre-selection, photos of 60 participants depicting the Penza sights were chosen for the exhibition. Among them there are State Lermontov Memorial Estate Tarkhany, the resort “Russian hunt,” the rivers Vyad and Khoper and other famous places.

In addition, journalistic photos, taken during celebrations of the 350th anniversary of Penza, were presented at the exhibition.

Visitors will choose the winners of the photo exhibition. The announcement of the competition results and the awarding ceremony will take place in the Governor’s House on November 15.
