Philharmonic with organ hall built to 350th Penza anniversary opened in Penza

Penza, 26 December 2013. PenzaNews. The opening ceremony of the regional Philharmonic built at the intersection of Nekrasova and Suvorova Steets in Penza to the 350th anniversary of the city took place on Wednesday, December 25. The first visitors of the new building with фa total area of over 20,6 thousand square meters were representatives of the regional and city authorities, people of culture and art, as well as builders.

In the lobby the guests could watch the exposition “Culture of the Penza region,” and on the second floor their attention was caught by the exhibition “From “Concert Bureau – 1939” to “Penzaconcert – 2013.”

The Penza audience got to hear the organ concert for the first time – the instrument by “Hugo Meyer” totaling to 250 million rubles and made in the classic style was fixed in a separate lounge for 200 seats.

Then, the guests were shown the great hall of the Philharmonic for 705 seats where the award ceremony of those contributed to the construction of the new building took place.

Greeting the guests of the ceremony, the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev remarked that residents of the region have a unique culture venue, as well as the new square which has no name yet.

“I have a dream – to resettle residents of houses in Pushkina Street, to build, perhaps, a theatre for young spectators, and then this square could be named the square of arts,” he said.

The chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev, in his turn, expressed an opinion that the new Philharmonic can be rightly called the temple of culture.

According to the head of the city Yuri Alpatov, who also greeted the guests, the construction became possible not only due to funding but also thanks to the faith of people whose daily work allowed to finish the project.

On Thursday, December 26, there will be held one more solemn event organized for specially invited guests.

The first paid concert that everyone can visit is scheduled for the coming Sunday, December 29.
