The first events of the festival were the presentation of the exhibition “The image of M. Lermontov in Soviet history” and lecture “Lermontov-reader” hosted by scientific secretary of the regional library Dmitry Murashov.
He presented to the visitors Soviet editions of classics and publications related to his life and works.
Dmitry Murashov also spoke about the ideological and political underpinnings of interpreting poetry and prose of Mikhail Lermontov in Soviet times.
He dwelt on the books that were interesting to the poet himself and had a strong influence on him.
It is planned that the festival “Open World of Libraries” will continue with educational action “World sound of Lermontov,” which will take place next Friday, March 21.
Then, the regional competition of librarians is scheduled where they will share their experiences of acquainting the reader with the heritage of Lermontov.
It is expected that the award ceremony will be held in early July in the framework of inter-regional round table dedicated to the works of Mikhail Lermontov.
