Penza, 19 March 2014. PenzaNews. The Governor's Ball for older people “Invitation to the Dance” was held in the foyer of the Concert Hall “Penza” on Wednesday , March 19.

The participants, who had been preparing for the event for several months, came from different areas of the region.

As a part of the festival program, they learnt some interesting facts from the history of polka, polonaise and waltz, and then demonstrated their skills.

Festive mood was created by pop-jazz ensemble under the direction of Yuri Belonogov, the soloist of the governor's choir Irken Mustafin, the ballroom dance ensemble “Ritm” and the students of Penza Art College.

Municipal cultural institutions of the Penza region hold free dance classes for the elderly. The total number of the participants exceedes 2,500 people.

In February 2014 the specialists of the regional House of Folk Arts hosted zonal workshops for managers of dance clubs in Penza, Kuznetsk, Nizhny Lomov, and Serdobsk.
