Penza, 9 April 2014. PenzaNews. IV International Jazz Festival “Jazz May - 2014” will be held in Penza on May 16-18. As the producer of the event Oleg Rubtsov informed, the main event of the festival will be held in open air — on the new square at the intersection of Suvorova and Nekrasova Streets.

“Their performances will present Moscow bands, which originated from Penza musicians — “Gone with the branches,” “Living people.” and “Cigar Hall.” Some bands are coming from St. Petersburg — “Olesya Yalunina Band” and “Non Cadenza,” which is the headliner of open air,” he said during a press conference held on Wednesday, April 9.

Oleg Rubtsov also clarified that the concerts held in the concert hall “Penza” and Philharmonic will be chargable.

“There will be a set by the orchestra of Oleg Lundstrem directed by Boris Frumkin, which will include the quartet by Alevtina Polyakova. It will be held in the concert hall “Penza.” The Philharmonic will welcome Craig Handy — the greatest saxophonist and a movie star, who performed in “Kansas City” by Robert Altman. The visitors will also be able to enjoy creative work of “MosGorTrio” by Yakov Okun,” the producer of the festival commented.

It is expected that in 2014 “Jazz May” will still be implemented mainly by the efforts of social activists. The program of the event is planned to be widened with related projects — photo expositions, workshops, films.
