Orthodox Soldier’s Chorus to give concerts in Penza

Penza, 30 April 2014. PenzaNews. The Orthodox Soldier’s Chorus of Engineering corps of Russian Military Force “For Faith and the Fatherland,” led by hegumen Varnava, will give concerts in Penza.

It is planned that the soldiers will perform in the Garrison Officers’ Club at 12:00 and in organ hall of the regional Philarmonic Hall at 18:00 next Thursday, on May 1. The concerts will include church music and Cossack, military and modern songs.

The press center of the Department of Culture and Archives of Penza region reports that the Chorus plans to take part in archiereus office in the Church of the Blessed Matron of Moscow on Bekeshskaya street on Friday, May 2.

The Orthodox Soldier’s Chorus of Engineering corps of Russian Military Force was founded by hegumen Varnava (Stolbikov) in 1993 under the support of St. Zosimovskiy Smolensky friary in Vladimir region.

Among the members of the chorus are members of the military with musical education who are undergoing compulsory military service in military base 42754 located close to the friary.

The chorus has won many awards of top Russian and worldwide contests and festivals.
