Penza, 16 May 2014. PenzaNews. Final preparations for the international festival “Jazz May,” which will open on Friday evening, May 16, are coming to an end in Penza.

Main creative events will be held in the square near the new Regional Philharmonic and concert hall “Penza.”

On Friday, May 16, at 17.30 the bands will start their performances here — “Unesennye vetki” [Gone branches], “Zhivye lyudi” [Living people], “Cigar Hall,” then at around 20.30 there will be a “jam session” with festival guests and Penza musicians.

On Saturday, May 17, jazz music in the open air will be heard from 12.00. The program includes performances by local artists. At 16.00 the guests will meet with the ensemble under the direction of Yuri Belonogov and the big band by Valery Dmitriev.

The festival will continue on the stage of concert hall “Penza” at 18.00. Music fans will be able to get acquainted with the work of Alevtina Polyakova and the orchestra of Oleg Lundstrem under the direction of Boris Frumkin.

On Sunday, May 18 at noon, Penza musicians will perform again. At 15.00 and 16.00 the square stage will welcome “Olesya Yalunina Band” and “Non Cadenza.”

At 18.00 the festival will move to Philharmonic Hall, where the concert by “MosGorTrio” by Yakov Okun with the participation of vocalist Anna Buturlina and American saxophonist Craig Handy is scheduled.
