Penza officials, businessmen and other prominent people performed in “Dead Souls”

Penza, 2 June 2014. PenzaNews. Over 20 famous people of Penza, including officials, businessmen and public figures, performed in charity performance “Dead Souls” staged by Mikhail Bulgakov's comedy, which was written based on the work of Nikolai Gogol.

The premiere was held in Penza Regional Drama Theater named after A. Lunacharsky on Saturday, May 31.

Some of nonprofessional actors participated in such a project a year ago, when the audience was presented charity performance “Till the third roosters,” others — first entered the professional theater scene, but the acting of the new artists did not leave the audience indifferent.

Moreover, cues of Gogol's heroes about corruption, bribery, fraud and widespread cheating pronounced by the people in power have had an even greater effect.

Pavel Chichikov's role was brilliantly performed by chef sommelier of “Zaseka” restaurant Evgeny Zhivaev.

Other participants are the director of experimental industrial enterprise “Mikhailovskoe” Nikolai Ovchinnikov as landowner Mikhail Sobakevich, the president of the regional federation of Karate Kyokushinkai and sports club “Edo” Vladimir Sychin (landowner Plyushkin), the director of Penza branch of “Agricultural Bank” Sergei Kochergin (landowner Nozdrev), the head doctor of children's dental clinic Elena Blashchuk (Nastasya Korobochka), as well as the general director of “Gidriatika” Viktor Osipov (landowner Manilov).

Also the deputy chairman of the Penza region Valery Bespalov, the executive director of “Civil Union” Oleg Sharipkov, the author of TV and radio company “Nash Dom” [Our House] Vladimir Ter-Kazarov, the director of shopping center “Elkom” Igor Zaydman and other prominent citizens took part in the performance.

The audience was especially delighted to see the journalist, author and the head of art project “Golden Pyramid” David Kuruma as captain Kopeikin.

As news agency PenzaNews reported earlier, it is planned that the funds raised from ticket sales will be forwarded to Penza fund “Helping hand to homeless animals.”
