The event aroused great interest among the citizens, with over 100 visiting the opening.

Before cutting the red ribbon, Li Yongchuan said that his exhibition is one more step towards the convergence of Russian and Chinese cultures.

“I am very glad that my work appeared to be of interest to the audience of your city. I like to associate with people living in other countries, because such communication helps to create something new. I hope that getting to know the art of my country will push you to something new, too. China is very different from Russia, but the art is wonderful, for it helps people speaking different languages understand each other better,” the China artist commented for news agency “PenzaNews.”

In turn, Kirill Zastrozhniy, acting head of the department of culture and the archive of the Penza region, explained why the opening of exhibition “The Shining World of Dunhuang” is such a remarkable event.

“Penza audience is spoiled when it comes to art, in the finest sense of the word. But we are mainly familiar with the artists of the Russian classical school. Here, we see a completely different kind of art. I believe that the more of this we have, the faster we grow as connoisseurs of fine art,” he stressed.

After the opening ceremony, the art master held an authograph session.

The exhibition will run until Monday, August 25.
