According to her, this year’s event was to be dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the great actor.

“Many people ask: what, where, when? I want to answer everybody at once: there will be no cinema festival this year. The Russian films were selected, a retrospective show list was compiled together with the French Embassy, but the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Culture and Archives Department of the Penza Region did not finance ‘Men’s Role’ this year,” Svetlana Starostina wrote in Facebook.

At the same time, she mentioned a new film about the Mozzhukhiny brothers that is being filmed using the subsidies from the Ministry of Culture.

“The regional Department of Culture re-issued the book ‘Twin star. Alexander and Ivan Mozzhukhiny’ this year, but there will be no cinema festival. Perhaps that’s right. Not the right place and not the right time for it,” Svetlana Starostina added.
