New exhibition planned in Penza “Tarkhany” to commemorate Handwriting Day

Penza, 19 January 2015. PenzaNews. A special museum program “Touching paper with heart” dedicated to Handwriting Day will open for visitors of “Tarkhany” Lermontov State Museum-Reserve on Friday, January 23.

The public will be able to not only read the letters of the poet and learn about his handwriting, but also listen to the history of handwriting in Lermontov’s age, see the 19th century stationery, and find out why the letters were sometimes called “rattles.”
Moreover, each visitor will receive a unique opportunity to write a letter with a fountain pen to his or her relatives and friends.
“Who knows: maybe one meeting will be enough to understand the obvious – an SMS or an e-mail will be very quickly forgotten or lost among the hundreds of its kind, but a paper letter will live on and remain not only in our memory,” representatives of Lermontov State Museum-Reserve commented for PenzaNews agency.
