Local lore museum opened in Nikolsk

Penza, 26 January 2015. PenzaNews. A new museum of local lore opened its doors in Nikolsk town of the Penza region.

The official opening ceremony took place on Saturday, January 24. It attracted the members of the town administration, leaders of local businesses and organizations, as well as regional and city board representatives.

In her address to the audience, Lyudmila Linina, head of the Nikolsk area administration, thanked her compatriots with the foundation of a new cultural institution, and expressed her gratitude to the director of the museum Oleg Ilyin for great management.

Among other people who addressed the gathering were Svetlana Zubkova, the main expert of the Office of Culture and Arts at the Department of Culture and Archive of the Penza region; Vladimir Sergeev, chairman of the local administration, Olga Panyushkina, director of the Nikolsk Museum of Common and Crystal Glass; and Valentina Golova, local lore researcher.

Oleg Ilyin, the director of the museum, held a presentation dedicated to the path of the new institution from its conception to the first days, showing the photos of reconstructed areas, first museum items, and exposition creation process.

During the event, Sergei Kuznetsov, head of the Nikolsk city administration, presented those who provided management, financial and moral support to the museum with official diplomas.

The event also saw the first official tour through the history of Nikolsk city and the surrounding lands, followed by the opening of the personal exhibition dedicated to the Honored Artist of Russia Nikoiai Ershkov. According to the website of the local area administration, his works are displayed in the picture gallery of the museum.
