“DDT” band performs in Penza

Penza, 4 April 2015. PenzaNews. The cult Russian rock band “DDT” and its permanent leader Yuri Shevchuk has performed with its new album “Prozrachniy” at “Penza” cinema and concert hall late on Friday, April 3.

The concert that lasted over two hours featured both new compositions and their classical Russian Rock hits, such as “Dozhd,” “Hippany,” “Veter,” “Prosvistela,” “Mama, eto rock-n-roll,” “Aktrisa Vesna,” “V poslednyuyu osen,” “Svoboda” and more.
Several songs were performed by the band singer Alena Romanova. According to Yuri Shevchuk, the group helped the young lady create her solo album throughout this January.
The whole concert was accompanied by the chants of the audience, who shouted: “DDT!” “Yura!” “Thank you!” and “Well done!” After the band leader thanked the audience and left the scene after the concert, the audience have been encoring him back for several minutes.
After coming back on the scene after the chants, the band performed its signature songs, “Rodina” and “Eto Vsyo.”
The band leader urged Penza citizens to sing together during the performance.
“When horses die, they breathe, when grasses die, they wither, when suns die, they go out, when people die, they sing songs,” Yuri Shevchuk quoted the poet Velimir Khlebnikov.
According to him, the main things in life are love, freedom and art.
“Our positive attitude is when everything has burned down and everywhere you go you meet walls, and then when you say: ‘Yura, my dear, life’s good after all!’ – this is the true Russian positive attitude,” said the singer.
Recently, Yuri Shevchuk added, the people became more angry, but he expressed his belief this shall pass soon like a flu, and the hardest thing to do nowadays would be to remain a man and act like a man.
“The most important is not to lose your humanity, to not dehumanize other peoples and, first of all, yourselves. We cross Russia so much, we see so many wonderful people. It is incredible, and it is so good! This is a complete truth, I want to tell you. So thanks to all of you in this hall today!” Yuri Shevchuk stressed.
He wished the Penza audience to live well and peacefully, and promised to return in two years with a new program.
“Thank you, the wonderful city of Penza! Thank you, the wonderful audience,” the singer said.
