The event will involve 18 professional glassworks artists, including 10 from Russia and eight from CIS countries and Western Europe, the chairman of the Penza region glassworks cluster Dmitry Timonin informed PenzaNews agency.
“During the workshop, the craftsmen will get an opportunity to exchange their glassworks techniques and experience, and discuss the achievements and current trends of glass art on a professional level,” said the speaker.
According to Dmitry Timonin, it is important to note that the forum will not only provide a place for the professionals to implement their ideas, but also boost the notability of the glass art in the region, develop the Nikolsk glassworks cluster enterprises, and shape the culture of the town of Nikolsk and the Penza region.
In his turn, a Distinguished Artist of Russia Alexander Fokin pointed out that the oncoming workshop will, too, be dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory in WWII.
“The historic events of the Great Patriotic War will no doubt influence the ideas of many artists and become a leitmotif of their sculptures,” the artist suggested.
The workshop is organized by the Russian Academy of Arts, the Russian Artists’ Union, the Penza region government, the Nikolsk area government, and the Center of Cluster Development.
Thanks to help from the Center of Cluster Development, the Russian Ministry of Culture has allocated funding for the international workshop in Nikolsk for 2015.
