Penza, 5 May 2015. PenzaNews. The St. Petersburg Jazz Stars project will be performing at the Penza Regional Philarmonic Hall on Friday, May 15, as part of the Jazz May festival.

The music band is composed of the strongest jazzmen of Russia’s Northern Capital.

Among them are Billy Novik, lead of Billy’s Band and founder of the cult St. Petersburg jazz club “The Hat”; Yulia Mikhaylovskaya, winner of singing contests “Gnessin Jazz” and “Osenny Marafon”; Andrei Zimovets, one of St. Petersburg’s most wanted piano players; Egor Kryukovskikh, finalist of “Bolshoy Jazz” project on TV Kultura; Nikolai Zatolochny, bass player; Kirill Bubyakin, sax player, head of Jazz Philarmonic Orchestra and Real Jazz Quartet; and Konstantin Khazanovich, master virtuoso of clarinet, a rare instrument in jazz music.

According to the message published in the festival’s official VK.com group, the musicians are driven by the wish to bring back the customs of mainstream jazz from the 50’s and raise the popularity of classic jazz without vulgar simplification and musical emasculation.

As PenzaNews agency reported earlier, Jazz May festival will be held on May 15-17.
