Penza, 6 May 2015. PenzaNews. The official opening of the 6th international symposium on glassmaking and glass sculpture was held in the Nikolsk town business incubator on Tuesday, May 5.

The artistic event involves over 20 artists from the Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia and Belarus, along with the best amateur artists of Russia.

Throughout the upcoming 15 days, they will be creating their sculptures using the facilities of the Nikolsk glassmaking cluster.

Moreover, the symposium will feature workshops by art researchers.

A one-day exhibition of the works of the regional children’s art school “Glassmaking in A Child’s Eye” and works of the regional glassmaking cluster enterprises was held on the day of the opening ceremony.

The visitors also enjoyed a performance of the string concert “Premyera” and a soloist Irken Mustafin.

The symposium will last until May 15 and conclude with a large exhibition of works created during the event, says the press service of the regional Department of Culture and Archive.
