Over 1,000 choir singers performed in Penza on square by cinema and concert hall

Penza, 24 May 2015. PenzaNews. A choir of over 1,000 singers held a performance at the square by “Penza” cinema and concert hall as part of the campaign “A Pesnya v Rossii Na Vse Vremena” [And the Singing in Russia’s Eternal] dedicated to Slavonic Literature and Culture Day [St. Cyril and Methodius Day] celebrated on Sunday, May 24.

The performances of best choirs began in many cities of the state at 12.00 am.
In Penza, the campaign involved professional, amateur, academic, ethnic Russian, students’ and veterans’ choirs.
Moreover, this year also saw performances of nearly 400 young singers.
Their songs were accompanied by the symphonic orchestra of the Gubernatorial Symphonic Chapel led by the renowned culture artist Vladimir Kashirsky, and the brass orchestra of Anatoly Naberezhny.
The choirs performed such songs as “The Hymn to St. Cyril and Methodius,” “Rodina,” “Glyazhy v Ozera Siniye,” “Prekrasnoye Dalyoko,” “Ya Lyublyu Tyeba, Zhizn,” “Pust’ Vsegda Budet Solntse,” “Slavsya,” “Dyen Pobedy,” and more.
In his address to the singers, the deputy chairman of the government of the Penza region Sergei Pulikovsky noted the event united members of all generations, and expressed his belief the numbers of people who take part in it would only grow.
“Most importantly, it is a patriotic campaign, it aims to unite people, to support the great day, the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War,” Sergei Pulikovsky said.
