Valery Sazonov memorial plaque to be installed on Penza art gallery

Penza, 10 August 2015. PenzaNews. The plaque will be installed on one of the columns of the main entrance of the Penza Savitsky art gallery in memory of the Honored Artist of Russia, the former director of the institution Valery Sazonov, who died in the spring of 2015.

As scientific secretary of the art gallery Elena Efremova told PenzaNews agency, the fiberglass memorial plate will bear a relief portrait of the artist, indicate the period of his life, as well as the period of work as the head of the institution.
“The memorial plaque was designed by the famous Penza sculptor Alexander Khachaturyan. This is a kind of a gift of the artist in memory of Valery Petrovich [Sazonov], with whom he was acquainted and maintained cordial relations,” the agency interlocutor said.
She added that the opening of the memorial plaque will be held on Friday, September 4.
“The date is not chosen by chance. On the same day, the museum of one picture will premiere a new project, the idea of which belongs to Valery Sazonov. The painting by the famous German painter Franz Xaver Winterhalter [“Portrait of Varvara Rimskaya-Korsakova”] from the funds of the gallery will be on display. In addition, there will be the demonstration of the movie “Touching the Mystery,” Elena Efremova noted.
