Jazz pianist Victor Chekh passes away in Penza

Penza, 25 August 2015. PenzaNews. Victor Chekh, jass pianist, composer, teacher at the Penza children’s musical school No. 15, has passed away in the Zakharyin emergency clinical hospital on night into Tuesday, August 25.

The musician was placed in the emergency ward two days ago, a school representative told PenzaNews agency.
The date and time of the memorial service for Victor Chekh is yet to be announced.
Victor (Pavlovich) Chekh was born in Buryatiya on January 30, 1946.
He graduated from the Irkutsk Arts College and the Novosibirsk Conservatory, and worked at the Penza children’s musical school No. 15 since 1993.
Victor Chekh received the laureate award of the Fifth all-Russian arts, science and theory works of cultural education institutions teachers, and the Penza region governor’s pension for high achievements in composing.
He wrote the score to eight plays of the Penza Lunacharsky Drama Theater and the Puppet House theater, as well as the schoolbook “The Jazz School” for grades 1-7.
Many of Victor Chekh’s students grew to become laureates of international festivals and contests.
