The event was organized by the Penza archdiocese together with the charity foundation in support of family, motherhood and childhood “Pokrov.”
Among the guests of the celebration were children from big or poor families, orphans, and students of Sunday schools.
After the Christmas carols by the Bishop’s Children’s Choir, the festivities started off with the entertainment program “The Christmas Hurly-Burly.”
Following that, Archbishop Serafim of Penza and Nizhny Novgorod congratulated the children, and presented the awards to winners of the contest “World of Orthodox Christianity As Seen By Children” for students of Sunday schools and orphanages.
The Christmas celebration concluded with a play “The Twelve Months,” says the website of the regional Lunacharsky Drama Theater.
