So far, more than 30 people decided to contribute to the event, which will take place on May 20-22.

In addition, the crowdfunding campaign organized by Civil Union foundation is still ongoing.

The donated money will be used to set up the outdoors festival grounds by “Penza” cinemar and concert hall – stage and sound system installation, greening, and street furniture for the festival-goers, as well as a variety of art installations to set the mood.

As PenzaNews reported earlier, the upcoming Jazz May festival for the first time will feature a dance performance by the jazz dance master Kseniya Parkhatskaya – it will take place in the second part of the fesitval’s closing event.

The festival will open with a program “Tribute to Sonny Rollins” by Emanuele Cisi, one of the best jazz sax players of Italy in JasIt magazine rating, followed by a more progressive music by Vitaly Golovnev’s quintet and a singer Shenel Jones.

The festival’s schedule for the next day features an orchestral performance of the Saransk Big Band and a program by Russian National Artist Daniil Kramer’s trio.

The final day of the event will include performances by Yuri Belonogov’s Express-Band and Robert Anchipolovsky’s bebop, hardbop and postbop jazz crew.

In addition, the event’s music hall will be reconstructed for Jazz May to resemble the atmosphere of places that nurtured jazz music for its world debut. The reconstruction crew will be led by George Sergeeev, Moscow cinema expert and musical critic, who will also be engaged in real-time dubbing of silent films.

Moreover, festival organizers reached an agreement of cooperation with Insomnia annual open-air animation festival held in the Kaluga region.

The plans include a possible exhibition of paintings by Rinat Kravtsov, a renown Moscow jazz drum player.
