Penza Drama Theater earns 30 million rubles over past season

Penza, 30 June 2016. PenzaNews. The Lunacharsky Penza Drama Theater earned around 30 million rubles during the 233rd theatrical season, its director Alexander Fomin said during a press conference on Thursday, June 30.

“This is good performance for the current situation in the country. We are using this money for new plays, taxes, buying expendable materials, salaries, bills, repairs,” he explained.
In turn, the theater’s artistic director Sergei Kazakov pointed out that the aforementioned sum is only slightly less than the normal income in previous, more well-to-do times, both in regards to teh economy and during the years when the Drama Theater enjoyed nearly no competition before the opening of the new Philharmonic Hall.
Back then, the theater earned around 34-35 million rubles per season, he clarified.
The situation is getting more even in regards to 2015, Alexander Fomin noted.
However, both the director and the artistic director told the journalists that finding balance between creative development and commercial income is very important, and added that they think the theater is doing it well.
