Lermontov festival in Penza Tarkhany held for 47th time

Penza, 7 July 2018. PenzaNews. On July 7 admirers of Mikhail Lermontov's works from different parts of Russia gathered in the state museum-reserve Tarkhany located in the Belinsky area of the Penza region to celebrate poetry for the 47th time.

There were honoured guests among them. These were cosmonaut Alexander Samokutyaev, who chose the word "Tarkhany" as a call sign being the commander of the spacecraft Soyuz TMA-14M in 2014, honoured artist of Russia Sergei Makhovikov, poet Konstantin Frolov and member of the Union of Writers of Russia Adam Akhmatukaev.

Before the official part in the Green theatre the officials took part in the ceremony of laying flowers to the grave of Mikhail Lermontov.

Then the festival started. Its motto was the following poet's words: "Homeland is where people love us, where they trust us".

Turning to those present, governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev thanked the visitors of Tarkhany for their love of poetry.

He also noted that the holiday was taking place without Andrei Dementyev, who had passed away on June 26. He had been a permanent guest of the celebrations in Tarkhany.

The event was followed by awarding Lermontov prizes.

Writer Zakhar Prilepin, who arrived to the Penza region on his birthday, received the award in the category "For the achievements in literature that received public recognition". The jury made special mention of his books "Different Poets. The Tragedies and Fates of the Bolsheviks Era" and "Platoon. Officers and Militia of Russian Literature". The physician anaesthesiologist-resuscitator of the Penza Regional Children Clinical Hospital named after N.F. Filatov, member of the Russian Union of Writers, Vladimir Davydov, was awarded for the book "Selection-2017".

Director of the state Pushkin museum Evgeny Bogatyrev was awarded in the nomination "For contribution in cultural and educational activities of the Penza region".

Poet and writer Ilya Novikov received a prize in the category "Young talent".

Then, words of Mikhail Lermontov were cited from the stage.

In addition, the programme was complemented by musical performance – singer Marina Devyatova, a pipe band from Moscow, Penza singer Marta Serebryakova and Somin-Orchestra performed in the Green theatre.
