Penza, 16 August 2011. PenzaNews. More than 270 thousand hectares of grain crops or 47.5 % of total area were collected in the Penza region by the middle of August. The Minister of Agriculture of the region Vladimir Volkov informed about it during a meeting with journalists in press center of the news agency "PenzaNews"  on Tuesday, August, 16th.

The minister said: "Beacause of rains harvesting begun later this year, in spite of this fact we expected to collect more winter crops. Our forecast for crops comes true".

According to Vladimir Volkov, average productivity of economy of the Penza region is 15.4 centners from hectare.

The Minister of Agriculture said: "426 thousand tons of grain were thrashed now. Till the end of the harvest season it is planned to collect about 1 million tons".

Speaking about results of different municipals, Vladimir Volkov underlined that the department intends to pass from summarizing by territorial principle to the mark of activity of concrete enterprises.

Vladimir Volkov said: "For example, speaking about barley, some enterprises have 65 centners from hectare, others have 35 centners or 22 centners from hectare. And all of them work in the same area. Everything depends on technology of work used by businessmen".

He informed also that feed storage has satisfactory rates.

"Cost of one hay bale decreased from 900 to 400 rubles. Today 80 % of hay from the plan were cut, prepared 72 % of hay, the silo prepparation just started, therefore we sure that till the end of summer we will reach the level of 29 centners of fodder units per head".
