Penza, 30 September 2011. PenzaNews. Total yield of grain crops exceeded 1 million tons. The productivity is 18.5 centners from hectare in the Penza region.

The press-service of the regional government said: "The highest productivity is in Luninsky area — 25.5 centners from hectare, Issinsky — 25.1, Bessonovsky — 24.4, Penzensky — 22.1, Spassky — 20.5 and Lopatinsky area — 20.1".

In Bekovsky, Vadinsky, Zemetchinsky, Kamensky, Luninsky, Maloserdobinsky, Neverkinsky, Nikolsky, Penzensky and Shemyshejsky the harvesting is completed. In other areas of the Penza region harvesting of millet, buckwheat and corn hasn't been finished yet.

The press-service said: "Harvesting of sugar beet is in process. For September, 29th the yield of 25 400 hectares is 766 thousand tons and productivity is 302 centners from hectare. Total area of sugar beet culture is 61 214 hectares".

Some agricultural enterprises started sunflower harvesting. The total area of sunflower is 163.5 thousand hectares.

The press-service of the government of the Penza region said: "Harvesting of potato comes to the end. Productivity is 154 centners and 37 430 hectares of 39 750 hectares of potatoes were gathered. Total yield is 576 thousand tons".
