“Head of the Penza district administration Galiya Murakayeva addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, after which the participants officially opened the fish slaughterhouse and toured the hatchery of the center,” the press service noted.

Fish farming is an agricultural sector specializing in raising fish and improving and increasing fish stocks in rivers, lakes and ponds.

Fish farming involves raising fish commercially in tanks or enclosures. A facility that releases young fish into the wild for recreational fishing or to supplement a species’ natural numbers is generally referred to as a fish hatchery.

An increasing demand for fish has resulted in widespread overfishing in wild fisheries. Fish farming offers fish marketers another source with which to meet the demand for fish and fish protein.
