Responding to the questions about the prospects of agricultural development as a result of Russia joining WTO, Ivan Firyulin noted that the major manufacturing business will not suffer. “Our economy has got some bottlenecks, but in crop production, we can build up the necessary technology within a year, which enables us to be competitive in grain, vegetables, and potato production,” said the Minister.

He added that foreign manufacturers will not be a serious threat to the Russian business only if the authorities monitor closely the development of the business struggle. “This should be a fair trade with state support, but today we do not have total transparency,” pointed out Ivan Firyulin.

“In any case, we still have three more years to adapt to new working conditions, and I always say that a Russian man harnesses the horse slowly, but drives fast,” summed up the Minister of Agriculture of the Penza region.
