“AMO Plant” to place bus assembling factory in Penza region

Penza, 22 June 2012. PenzaNews. The governor of the Penza Region Vasily Bochkarev and executive director of the Latvian automobile company “AMO Plant” Alexey Maslov discussed the possibility of opening a factory to assemble passenger buses in the Penza region at a working meeting in Penza on Friday, June 22.
Alexey Maslov told Vasily Bochkarev, that the current marketing strategy of “AMO Plant” is to provide closeness of the assembling factories to the consumer, which is why they are considering placing “screwdriver” assembly in the Penza region.
According to the business plan of the company, the first stage of the annual output will amount to 100–120 public buses of the European type 10 and 15 meters long. After reaching the production capacity, the output will be increased to 250 units.
“The main thing for us is the local market, and skilled staff; we are also ready to teach the operational process,” pointed out Alexey Maslov.
Vasily Bochkarev reported to the head of “AMO Plant,” that the Penza region possesses experience and opportunities for the development of assembly auto industry. In Penza, a joint Russian-Ukrainian company produces agricultural tractors “Slobozhanin” which were successfully tested on the machine-testing station in the Samara region and on the farms of the Krasnodar region.
In the Penza region there are also companies producing certified parts and accessories for JSC “AvtoVAZ,” JSC “GAZ,” AMO “ZIL,” and the alliance “Renault-Nissan.” They are ready to cooperate with other automakers.
“You have a good technological environment for development,” underlined Alexey Maslov.
As reported the press service of the Government of the Penza region, it is assumed that in case of positive decision the bus assembling factory of “AMO Plant” will be located on the work site in the village Chaadaevka, the Gorodishchenskiy district.
