Penza region ranked second in terms of industrial production in the Volga Federal District

Penza, 24 July 2012. PenzaNews. The index of industrial production of the full range of producer organizations in the Penza region for January–June, 2012 amounted to 110.5%; the result became second in the Volga Federal District. According to Penzastat, the greatest growth took place in textile and garment production – 18.6%, production of food and drinks – 13.6%, pulp and paper production, publishing and printing activities – 10.8%.

Production of agricultural products also increased during the first half-year period. In comparison with the similar period of last year, production of all categories of meat increased by 20.2%, eggs – by 12.8%, milk – by 1.2%.
The amount of housing, put into operation year to date, is almost a quarter higher than it was in the first half of 2011; retail trade of consumer goods rose by 4%, foreign trade turnover increased by 9.2%.
Moreover, there is a positive demographic dynamics in the region for January–June, 2012 in comparison with the similar period of last year: the number of births increased by 6.7%, the number of deaths decreased by 2.3%. The number of divorces decreased by 13.6%, the number of marriages increased by 0.1%.
