Registered unemployment rate in the Penza region as of the beginning of July 2012 is 1.1%, which is 0.4 percentage points lower than in the Russian Federation as a whole. This was stated by the Head of the Department of Labor, Employment and Labor Migration Elena Kosnikova in her blog in Live Journal.

“Thus, the labor market in the Penza region remains one of the most stable in the Russian Federation and the Volga Federal District,” she said.

Elena Kosnikova also stressed that the amount of economically active population in the Penza region is 694.9 thousand, 660.2 thousand of which are employed and 34.7 thousand — unemployed.

“The level of overall unemployment rate corresponds to 5% that is 0.5 percentage points less than in Russia as a whole,” said the head of the department.
