This was stated be the governor Vasily Bochkarev during a meeting with journalists in Penza on Monday, November 19.

The head of the region noted that he had already held talks with experts engaged in scientific development in the field of high technology.

“According to them, hemp is a cluster of the XXI century. For example, aircraft body of a new Boeing, which is made of material derived from hemp and presented at an air show in Zhukovsky, is ten times stronger and a third lighter than made of metal,” Vasily Bochkarev said.

He added that due to the development of this area, the Penza region would be able to get some serious investment.

“Today a large range of materials is made of industrial hemp. And in Soviet times, the Penza region was the leading manufacturer of the plant due to proper climate,” he emphasized.

According to the governor investors from the US city of Chicago became interested in the project for production of industrial hemp and are willing to come to the talks in Penza.
