Arkady Dvorkovich: Loss of winter crops amounted to 20–30% in Penza region

Penza, 24 December 2012. PenzaNews. Loss of winter crops in the Penza, Orenburg, Saratov, Volgograd, Ulyanovsk regions, as well as in the south of Samara region amounted to 30%, while the average index in Russia is 8–9%. This was reported by the Vice-Premier Arkady Dvorkovich during a meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Monday, December 24.

“On the territory where the temperature is low, but the snow is already on the ground everything is all right — winter crops look fine. But in these regions the loss is significant, up to 20–30%. However, the expected amount of yield of winter crops with all these losses is about the same as in previous years,” he explained.
Arkady Dvorkovich pointed out that he had already ordered to allocate additional funds within the redistribution of regional budgets for possible reseeding of winter crops where necessary, as well as for additional scientific recommendations to provide proper, fully complied with all regulations, care for winter crops.
“Moreover, we shall promptly allocate the funds budgeted for 2013. Everything should be done by the end of February. All decrees have either already been signed or will be signed this week,” the press service of the Russian government quoted Arkady Dvorkovich.
