Penza, 31 January 2013. PenzaNews. The convicts held in prisons of the Penza region produced goods and rendered services for total amount of 166,3 million rubles in 2012.

“Institutions of criminal execution system of the region have diverse production, which includes clothing, food, shoes, wood and metalworking industry sections for the needs of personnel and convicts,” the head of the regional office of the Russian Federal service for punishment execution Alexander Gorshkov said during an expanded board meeting on the results of operational and production activity in 2012.

According to his data, the share of new products in the total production of goods amounted to 16,8%.

“In 2012, the percentage of convicts set for paid employment grew by 4,9% and reached 38% of the total number of convicts,” the press service of the ministry quoted Alexander Gorshkov.
