Penza, 28 March 2013. PenzaNews. The work of the five regions — the Penza, Kaluga, Kemerovo, Nizhny Novgorod, and Tyumen regions — on creation and development of technology parks was considered insufficient according to the results of the audit by the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation. This was announced by the Ministry of Communications of Russia on Thursday, March 28.

The ministry explained that the regions are to return the funds in the amount of 630 million rubles which were left unapplied in the period from 2007 to 2012.

However, the regions the activity of which was found ineffective will be able to submit an application for participation in the tender for remaining funds of the program in the amount of 2,715 million rubles.

The criteria of successful implementation of the program in its final phase is not the constructed area itself, but rather the number of new jobs — thus, so the regions having won the contest, will commit to provide up to 50% of staff of the parks by 2015, and 90% by 2018.
