Ivan Firyulin: Sowing campaign is 103% fulfilled in Penza region

Penza, 29 May 2013. PenzaNews. According to preliminary estimates, the tasks set before the agrarians of the Penza region during the spring sowing season have been 103% fulfilled. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture of the region Ivan Firyulin during a meeting with reporters on Wednesday, May 29.

“Grain crops were sown on 329,3 thousand hectares, or 103% of the planned area. The volumes of corn crops were increased considerably — from 12,9 thousand to 19,1 thousand hectares. The sown area of spring camelina grew by 1,5 times compared to the planned 2 hectares. In addition, 11,6 thousand hectares were allocated for soy while the planned index was 8,2 thousand hectares, and the sown area of sunflower grew to 172 thousand hectares instead of 152,” he said.
The Minister added that sugar beet was sown on 92% of the planned areas.
“Potatoes cover 99% of the allocated territories, vegetables — 96%,” the press service of the regional government quoted Ivan Firyulin.
Sowing of late spring crops should be fully completed by June 5.
