Penza, 13 August 2013. PenzaNews. Residents of the Penza region should become the main labor force at the Russian-Finnish plant for multipurpose diesel engine production, which is a joint project of LLC “Transmashholding” and Wartsila Corporation. This was stated by Zeljko Starcevic, Managing Director of Wartsila TMH Diesel Engine Company LLC, during a visit to the plant under construction in Penza on Tuesday, August 13.

“Searching for the staff, we turned to the local labor market, and all the people we recruited are from the Penza region,” he said.

Zeljko Starcevic added that the future employees were trained in Finland.

“The first group of workers has already been trained and was invited to a permanent job. The second group will leave for training next week and will be able to come back before the opening of the plant,” he explained.

In turn, the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev, who also inspected the object under construction, pointed out that the region is creating a high-tech enterprise for diesel engine production, including those to be exported to the CIS countries and other neighboring states.

“My dream came true and I am very happy. People will get good jobs, will be proud of their work and glorify Penza and Russia. Our city will be well known in many parts of the world,” he said.

Russian-Finnish project that will be implemented in Penza involves the creation of a joint enterprise for development, assembling and testing of multi-purpose medium-rail diesel engines for railway, marine and stationary use.

It is expected that plant’s production capacity will amount to 250–300 diesel engines per year, and may be increased up to 350 items.

The plant with the total area of 25 thousand square meters is constructed on the territory of JSC “Penzadieselmash.”
