Penza, 8 October 2013. PenzaNews. The Minister of Agriculture of the region Ivan Firyulin reported on the harvesting campaign progress during the meeting that took place in the regional government situation center.

According to him, cereal and pulse crops were reaped in the territory of 539.9 thousand hectares, and were threshed in the territory of 539 thousand hectares, in total over 1.29 tons were threshed, and the average yield is 24 hundred kilograms per hectare.

He said that at present agrarians are harvesting sugar beet and sunflower.

“14.8 thousand hectares of sugar beet out of 46.8 thousand hectares were harvested; the total amount is 593.2 thousand tons, the yield is 400 hundred kilograms per hectare. Sugar beet harvesting started in all the region areas, except for Serdobsky area,” the Ministry of Agriculture press service quoted Ivan Firyulin.
