Acting Minister of Agriculture of the Penza region Andrei Burlakov opened the meeting to inform that in the first nine months of 2013 the production of table eggs decreased by 560 million across Russia.

“First of all, it is caused by the rise in price for grain and fodder,” he said.

He expressed the hope that the expected support from the federal budget amounting to 17 million rubles will help stabilize the situation and strengthen the position of the poultry enterprises in the Penza region.

The head of the department of food market and licensure of regional Ministry of Agriculture Nina Bogach noted that specialists regularly monitor prices for socially important products, including table eggs.
According to her, the Penza region occupies the fifth place in terms of egg price in the Volga Federal District and the 27th place in the country.

Nina Bogach added that there is no feverish demand for eggs in the region.

“The provision of eggs we made is 104%. Since the beginning of the year, we have sold eggs for 518 million rubles. The trade margin varies from 5% to 11%,” she remarked.

The head of the Antimonopoly Control and Natural Monopoly department of the Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia in the Penza region Elena Demidova said that currently the legality of the price increase is being checked.

“The results are planned to be available by the end of the month,” she concluded.
