Penza, 21 November 2013. PenzaNews. The launch of the first stage Russian-Finnish plant for designing, building and testing of multipurpose medium-speed diesel engines for railway, marine and stationary use, being built in the territory of JSC “Penzadieselmash,” was postponed until the end of December 2013. This was reported by Zeljko Starcevic, Managing Director of Wartsila TMH Diesel Engine Company LLC, during a meeting with the governor Vasily Bochkarev on Thursday, November 21.

He explained that the postponement of the enterprise’s opening is linked with the failure of the Nizhny Novgorod contractor to perform the work in time.
“At present the construction is in its final stage. We are planning to launch the first stage by the end of December 2013, and to complete the equipment testing by January 31. We will start building three diesel generators on the new line by January 10,” Zeljko Starcevic said.
According to him, the investment in the first stage amounted to 25 million Euros.
“We would like to produce 274 diesel engines a year, 65% of which are diesel generators for railway transport, 30% – for marine, and 5% – for stationary power plants,” Managing Director of the diesel engine company remarked.
Zeljko Starcevic said that 23 million Euros is planned to be invested in building the work unit of mechanical processing, which is the second construction stage.
“The Penza region has always had the reputation of an industrial region, and we hope that we would be able to find here suppliers who would provide us with the components of the quality corresponding to Wartsila standards,” the press service of the regional government quotes Zeljko Starcevic.з
