920 heifers brought to dairy complex Rusmolko which is under construction in Penza region

Penza, 23 December 2013. PenzaNews. 920 heifers of Holstein-Friesian were brought to the dairy complex Rusmolko, which in now being constructed in the Nizhnelomovsky area of the Penza region, thus the total amount of cattle is 2 thousand heads.

As the general director of LLC Management Company Rusmolko Pavel Redzish told news agency “PenzaNews,” heifers arrived with 2-3-month pregnancy, calving is scheduled for the spring of 2014.

“The implementation of the project in the Nizhnelomovsky area is in its active phase and even during the crisis in the dairy industry it is in strict accordance with the company plans. At present, the complex is half-completed with highly productive breeding livestock, and the first milk was already produced. Those cows that arrive in the early October dropped calves already.

Over the next year, all production capacity of the company will be put into operation. The complex will operate full out and will produce 120 tons of premium quality milk per day,” the agency interlocutor said.

According to him, just as the previous shipment, which had arrived two months before, all heifers were carefully selected by Rusmolko specialists at dairy complexes of the United States.

“When choosing animals, the employees of the company assessed the breeding value of the livestock. They thoroughly studied a pedigree of animals because these data allows predicting productive quality of animals,” Pavel Redzish remarked.

He added that, according to the livestock supply contract, all heifers were artificially inseminated with semen production of the best stud bulls.

“More than a half of heifers arrived were inseminated with semen production with confirmed positive genetic index. This means that all the best qualities of the bulls will pass to the offspring,” the general director of LLC Management Company Rusmolko said.

According to him, a veterinary physician of the state veterinary budget-funded establishment was sent to the USA to carry out quarantine measures, to study the epizootic situation and to visa the veterinary certificates.

“A representative of the veterinary service was in the quarantine facility for 21 days where he monitored health of animals and checked compliance with the norms of vaccination. At present, the animals are being quarantined in the new farm “Rusmolko” where rest, relaxation and good feeding are provided to them. After a period of adaptation, which lasts for 30 days, the animals will be released from quarantine and will join the herd under control of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Republic of Mordovia and the Penza region and the state veterinary service,” the agency interlocutor concluded.
