Vladimir Voklov introduces camelina production project in Penza

Penza, 15 January 2014. PenzaNews. The first deputy chairman of the Penza region government introduced the region’s experience in cultivation and processing of oil-bearing camelina in Frankfurt am Main on Wednesday, January 15, in the framework of the presentation of the global project on production of alternative fuels organized by the airline Lufthansa.

According to Vladimir Volkov, the project, which was announces in 2012, is actively developing.

“Its key participants are companies Sberinvest and Rosargo. The first one is the main financial partner, it also produces elite seeds of camelina in cooperation with the Penza Research Institute of agriculture. Rosargo company is engaged in sale cropping,” he said.

Vladimir Volkov drew attention to the fact that the project involves the development of the whole chain – from seed production to biofuel production.

In turn, the head of the department of the infrastructure projects of Sberinvest company Mikhail Petrov said that in 2014-2016 there will be created facilities for production of 100 thousand tons of camelina oil per year to export it as raw material for biofuel.

According to him, the project is being developed in several regions but the center is the Penza region.

This year, Sberinvest plans to launch the first packaged unit for camelina oil production, as well as units for biodiesel production.

The capacity of each of them is 6 thousand tons of finished products per year, the press service of the development corporation of the Penza region reported.
