Results of regional livestock production in 2013 summed up in Penza

Penza, 28 February 2014. PenzaNews. The results of the livestock production in 2013 were announced at a meeting held in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Penza region on Friday, February 28.
The deputy minister of agriculture of the region Valery Kuznetsov introduced the main indicators.
He reported that the production of stall-fed livestock and poultry in live weight in all categories of farms totaled 222,7 thousand tons, which is 14% more than in 2012.
“Amount of poultry meat totaled 136,5 thousand tons, including 129,7 thousand tons in large and medium-sized agricultural enterprises. Percentage of growth is 18,7. Production of stall-fed pigs in organized farms reached 18,8 thousand tons, the increase is 20,5%,” the deputy minister clarified.
Valery Kuznetsov added that in 2013, the region produced 470 thousand tons of milk, which is 3,4 % lower than a year earlier.
“Milk production in the organized farms amounted to 158,8 thousand tons, which is 10,3 thousand tons or 6,1 % lower than the previous year. Milk yield per cow came to 3,727 kg,” he explained.
The deputy minister of agriculture of the region noted that last year they stated a decrease in egg production by 3,4 % — down to 357,1 million units.
“The number of cattle stock in the farms of all categories as of January 1, 2014 amounted to 199,9 thousand. Reduction of the number of cows in the farms of all categories came to 42,7 thousand heads or 33,9 %,” the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Penza region quoted Valery Kuznetsov.
