“The most important thing to do today is to find import substitutions. Russia, including the Penza region, has high dependence, primarily from food, not to mention clothes, shoes and kitchen appliances of foreign production,” the head of the region stressed.

Vasily Bochkarev also noted that the Penza region has all the necessary conditions for effective operation of farmers.

“There is soil, water, electricity, gas, and where the results of labor are,” he added.

According to the governor, he is ashamed because kindergartens, schools and hospitals get potatoes from Egypt and Israel, and not the locally grown one.

“Can you imagine the distance? Besides, what they do is process sea water, only then water the saplings, cover it from the sun, load onto ships and transport to Russia, and deliver to different regions. Dear countrymen, farmers, let's get up from the sofa and grow the products,” Vasily Bochkarev said.
