Spring sowing began in Penza region

Penza, 22 April 2014. PenzaNews. According to the regional department of the Ministry of Agriculture, agricultural producers of 20 areas of the Penza region started spring sowing.

“Spring sowing has already been held on 33,2 thousand hectares. The total sown area will approximately amount to 899,2 hectares. The pace of spring sowing is high in Zemetchinsky, Bashmakovsky, Belinsky and Bekovsky areas,” the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Penza region told news agency PenzaNews on Tuesday, April 22.

The ministry added that farmers of Bashmakovsky, Bekovsky, Belinsky, Issinsky, Zemetchinsky, Kamensky, Kolyshleysky, Tamalinsky areas started sowing sugar beet.

“In some areas of the region potatoes and vegetables are already being sown,” the press service noted.
