“There are certain problems. The plant is practically built. Currently, there is a discussion of sales of “Wärtsilä” package to American company,” Vasily Bochkarev said during a meeting with the minister-counsellor, the head of the department of trade and economy of the Embassy of Finland in Russia Marjo Mäki - Leppilampi on Wednesday, April 23.
“We hoped that we are going to start producing diesel engines for JSC “RZD” this year. We thought that this project will become a point of growth and popularity of Penza in Finland. But so far we have not reached the desired result,” the governor added.
Previously, the difficulties associated with the launch of the plant were announced by the first deputy chairman of the government of the region Vladimir Volkov. According to him, the deadlines were disrupted due to the fault of an unreliable construction partner.
The Russian-Finnish project, which is being implemented on the territory of Penza, provides for the creation of a joint venture for the development, assembly and testing of multi-purpose medium-speed diesel engines for rail, marine and stationary application.
The expected production capacity is- 250-300 diesel engines per year with the possibility of increasing the output up to 350 units.
The plant takes up the territory of 25 thousand square meters.
