Penza, 20 June 2014. PenzaNews. Mentality of foreign investors is not oriented to such slow transportation in Russia as railways. This opinion was expressed by the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev during the discussion with reporters of the issue of opening international terminal in the airport Penza.

“After my business trip to Turkey and the opening of the cement plant, when several foreign investors flew to Penza, I realized that the work on the creation of Penza international border crossing point must be dealt with seriously. I believe that the rules currently made in Russia are wrong: if there is an international airport in vicinity of 500 km, the city in this area should not have an international crossing point for passengers,” Vasily Bochkarev said during the press conference on Friday, June 20.

According to the head of the region, there is no speaking about any foreign investment, if there is no international terminal.

“When foreigners find out that it would take them half a day to go from Moscow to Penza, they dread it,” Vasily Bochkarev noted.

He explained that at the moment the decision is to be made by Russian Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov.

“Our main problem is to convince Maksim Sokolov to make extraordinary decision and give a commission to prepare a draft of a resolution authorizing international terminal in Penza airport,” the head of the region said.

He added that the Penza region started work in advance.

“I have already instructed the rector of Penza State University of Architecture and Construction Yuri Skachkov to draft the fast-to-build international terminal so that it could be commissioned in three months,” Vasily Bochkarev said.

As news agency PenzaNews reported earlier, the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev invited the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Transport Evgeny Moskvichev to open an international border pass in Penza airport.

The initiative was announced by the head of the region in a series of talks in the State Duma and the Russian government in Moscow on Wednesday, June 18.

According to Vasily Bochkarev, the lack of the pass is a deterrent for international cooperation.
