Over 164 tons of hay harvested in Penza region

Penza, 24 June 2014. PenzaNews. Over 164 tons of hay and 80,2 tons of haylage were harvested by farmers of the Penza region as of Tuesday, June 24.

According to operational information of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Penza region, the region harvested 104,2 thousand hectares of perennial and annual grasses.

“Agricultural enterprises of Kuznetsky and Serdobsky areas of the Penza region began to work on laying early silage. As of today's date four tons have been laid. In Bessonovsky area, the Penza region harvested 378 tons of vitamin-grass meal, which by its nutritional value is an analogue of concentrated feed,” the press service of the ministry told news agency “PenzaNews.”

To date on a conventional head they procured 7,95 quintals of feed units, which is 29% more than during the same period last year.

“Thanks to the systematic work of the regional ministry an increase in milk yield per forage cow is also noted. At the reporting date the figure was 14,1 kg of milk that exceeds the level of 2013 by 0,9 kg,” the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture pointed out.
