Penza, 30 June 2014. PenzaNews. Penza Biotec Group and the Polish company “Bioton S.A.” are launching the country's first project to produce insulin in Russia. This was stated by the president of “Bioton S.A.” Slawomir Ziegert during a working meeting with the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev.

According to Slawomir Ziegert, the project became possible thanks to the signing of a bilateral agreement between the companies Biotec Group, which includes the company “Biosintez,” and holding “Bioton S.A.”

“Production of high-quality drugs of recombinant genetically engineered human insulin, produced under the trade name “Gensulin” will be implemented by January 1, 2016 on the basis of Penza “Biosintez.” The new production will be equipped with high-tech equipment for the production of insulin in all types of packaging: in vials and cartridges, and meet all the requirements of GMP,” Slawomir Ziegert said.

He also noted that the drug based on the active pharmaceutical substance produced by “Bioton S.A. is effective and safe for human health. It is already used in more than 35 countries around the world and will be delivered to the Russian market at affordable prices for patients.

Slawomir Ziegert said that the project includes creation of 200 jobs.

In turn, the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev stressed the need to launch the production of insulin.

“Undoubtedly, this project is in demand. It is important for the implementation of the state's strategy of active import substitution and national security in the health sector. Modern trends indicate an increase in the number of patients with a diagnosis of diabetes. They need quality complex treatment, including insulin containing drugs. Your project will solve the problem of drug supply to the Russian market,” the press service of the government of the Penza region quoted Vasily Bochkarev.
